Calculating the Minimum Wage

All employees or workers are entitled to receive the National Minimum Wage (NMW) or National Living Wage (NLW). These are the minimum pay rates the Government sets that employees or workers must get paid on average for the hours that they work. The Government reviews the rates each year and they will usually change in April if there is an increase. The minimum wage rate varies depending on a person’s age and whether they are an apprentice. See current rates HERE. The apprentice rate will apply to any apprentices aged under 19, or an apprentice aged 19 or over in the first year of their current apprenticeship agreement.
